Some interesting trivia about the book:

 During the long process of research for this book, I discovered many interesting tidbits of Vikings trivia.  This involved far more than “such-and-such scored a touchdown against such-and-such on this day back in 1964” stuff that you get with typical sports trivia.  For example, I learned that the NFL identifies the exact colors for each team.  And I do mean exact.  Vikings “purple” is not just “purple” but rather Antoine 269.  The official shade of gold is Pantone 1235.  To imbue “Purple People” with an air of authenticity, those are the exact colors used on the cover of the book. 

 Also, any longtime Vikings fan will recognize the lettering on the book’s cover.  For decades that font spelled out “Vikings” in the endzone at Minnesota’s home games.  It’s official title is, appropriately enough, “Vikings Stencil.”
